A certain sweet little P has been changing everyday. We swear that every night as we lay her down that when she wakes up she has changed ever so slightly. We love watching her motor skills improve, she is amazing with her hand/eye coordination and her body control. She has leaped out of the bath tub, not clearing the tub but going into a tuck roll and landed in a seated position. She also has a love for Elmo, as most young children do. I had always pictured myself “that” parent that would deny their child Elmo only because “he” is so repetitive and um, kinda annoying. Well, like with most things, as you become a parent things that once annoyed you don’t seem annoying anymore because you love watching your child giggle uncontrollably, or move their legs so fast with excitement all over one particular character. I know as she gets older there will be new obsessions after she grows out of her Elmo stage, but for now it’s one of the most exciting things. Payton got her very first Elmo toy this past Friday when her and I were perusing Target. I had decided to stroll down the infant/toddler toy aisle and showed her two different Elmo’s, I literally thought she was going to jump out of her stroller with excitement. So, of course, I had to purchase it. She could not wait for me to open it up while we sat in front of Starbucks. When she got her arms around his red fur she giggled, kicked, and screamed with excitement. She kept hugging him, eating his nose all the while, hearing Elmo say over and over again, “Hey! that tickles!” We drove to Daddy’s basketball practice, giggling together and me singing, “hands, shoulders, knees and toes”. I literally love my life and all the joy she brings me everyday. How are we so lucky to experience all of this?
you’re gonna put me in what?!
This is Payton writing again. While I was playing with my toys tonight I heard mom-mom, da-da and gramma talking about my HalloOOweeen costume. I think their just plain nuts. They think since I am only nine months that they can dress me up in anything. . . um, like, hello?! I totally have a say, don’t ya think? I mean, I don’t want to be sixteen with my boyfriend looking at baby pictures of me in a lamb costume or heaven forbid, a pea pod. Please help a baby girl out and tell me which costume you like. Mom-mom also thinks that she would like me as a flapper. You take your pick, Gramma is going to make it so you better make it good!
um. . .

Peanuttle
the many faces of a hungry peanut
This past weekend my in-laws were in town from Jersey. The days were jam packed with sightseeing and a lot of eating. Unfortunately, I was only able to join them on Sunday because of working and fulfilling a few cupcake orders. We started the day by going to the SD swap meet, they always hit up the marketplace while visiting, we had wanted to bring them to the OC swap meet since it is better but with too much driving involved we stayed local. After some shopping we headed over to Old Town and had lunch at Barra Barra. Jim and I went here for our anniversary, it is quaint and nestled in the very back of Old Town park. The food is amazing and they have SD best margarita for only $5. Being the best parent I totally forgot to pack Payton’s lunch, we had exhausted all of our snacks so I decided to try something new and we gave her mashed black beans. Barra Barra offers these with salsa when you dine, it has a slight hint of cumin and they are so yummy! I thought it would be a good time to start P on them! After she ate the entire bowl we moved on to Grandpa’s guacamole and then she ate half of an avocado. She is such a California girl!
