I was contacted yesterday by the Associate Producer of Cupcake Wars! Yes, my lovely readers, I just typed Cupcake Wars! I had missed the call while I was delivering my last order for Valentines Day and started listening to the message but my dumb EVO hadn’t switched over to speakerphone until mid-message, all I heard was “…blah, blah, blah, James from Cupcake Wars. . .” EXCUSE ME!?!??!?! Holy crap! I instantly started shaking with excitement and looked in the backseat at my baby girl and started crying. Will this be my big break? Who knows. An hour later I spoke to the producer and we chatted for a while about my baking career and aspirations. We left the conversation with the reality that I have to submit a video by the end of the week. AHHH! The stress has set in, ideas flowing in and out of my mind for something original, unique and quirky like me. I have filled out the app and nailed down my assistant, now all I need is some motivation, a lot of energy and one kick ass video to land me a spot on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. Pray for me!
A date to remember: Will you be my girlfriend?
Ten years ago today my hubby asked me to be his girlfriend. I will always remember that day and my response forever. I remember how the sunlight came through the blinds and how he was sitting on his bed. I was standing to his left and he asked me nervously as he looked at the ground and then back at me. That day, February 6, 2001 was a day to remember and the start of us. We have shared many memories and gone so many places together. We have grown from our young adulthood, mere children to parents in ten years. It has been the greatest ride of my life, our lives, and I am thankful for the day he asked me to be his girlfriend. Happy ten-year dating anniversary Hubby!

Our family and I wouldn’t change a moment in the past ten years. I love you Jimmy! Thank you for all that you have taught me, all the days you have loved me and most importantly thank you for believing in me. You are my best friend.

and a snip, snip there!
Today we decided to snip a few of Payton’s baby hairs to even out her bangs that were Eddie Munster status and her party in the back. Ha! No really, the back of her hair was growing really long on the sides but the middle was way shorter so we headed to Pigtails & Crewcuts down in Point Loma for her first haircut. The in-laws arrived today so it was the perfect time for them to be involved with a “first” since they live 3,000 miles away. I was super impressed with the salon and it brought me back to my fav salon as a kid and young adult, Haircuts for Kids, in Murrieta. I love salons that cater to kids because you need to capture their attention and Payton loved being in an airplane! She looked in the mirror and watched “My Little Mermaid” as her first locks were trimmed. ::tears:: After a few animal crackers and a fly through the “sky” we were on our way! After her milestone we went to Corvette Diner, it was a fun experience and I loved my Elvis shake! What a great Saturday!! Hope y’all are having a good one and enjoy the big game tomorrow!
A last look at her baby hair.
Flying through the “sky”. She is so proud of herself.
The all done look! So cute! They actually layered it a bit in the back so she has a cute ‘lil bob.
a ponytail and nail polish
I have one extreme girly girl on my hands. She finally has enough hair to pull into a pebbles-style pony tail, almost long enough in the back to pull into a pony but it will be slightly snipped at the ends come Saturday. Jim and I decided that we will be getting Lil Miss her first haircut to even out the back of her hair and to snip her Eddie Munster style bangs she’s rocking. I know she will freak out but that will be the fun of the occasion! Today, while getting my nails done P played with her fav lady at the salon, Miessa. They really love each other and it’s so easy going to salon knowing that for the thirty or so minutes I am there I have a sitter and can relax. Sweet customer service, especially since I have been going there nine years! Today Miessa thought it might be fun to paint her nails, I wasn’t too excited about it because of the chemicals, but she does watch her for me and it’s nothing a little polish remover can’t handle. Plus, her little hands look so darn cute with polish on them, even if her left hand is missing a thumb and pointer finger! ha ha.
Payton’s new thing is making a run for it as I open our back door to let the doggy out. She opens the door, steps down and books it to explore our crazy backyard.
“waaa tdis?” Her new fav saying. I am surprised she hasn’t gotten curious about my gnome forest yet.
Ignore my dirty patio. Rain overflow + no time = a dirty backyard.
Don’t her dainty ‘lil nails look so cute? I can’t wait until we can get mani’s and pedi’s together.
I loved her outfit today, too bad you can’t see the whole thing. She is always grabbing a play necklace and wrapping it around her neck to be like mama. This girl was accessorized well today!
Top 2 Tuesday: Things you’ve learned about friendship
Top 2 Tuesday : Things you’ve learned about Friendship
This post couldn’t have come at a better time! Thanks Tay! I have learned a lot about friendship lately, especially once I had Payton. I became closer with my sister, who has three children and started surrounding myself with ladies who share the same lifestyle. I found that I no longer had anything in common with other friends and started new positive friendships. The two major things I have learned about friendships is that there are two types: sincere and superficial. I have had a new friend come into my life and honestly, I thank my lucky stars that she is my friend. She is a friend that comes over wearing pj’s, where we drink a margarita and drive fifteen minutes to the best donut shop EVER. I can be me, we do not judge eachother, we embrace eachother’s positive and negative sides like real friends should. She has taught me how to be the real me, again. Two things I have learned are that there are:
Sincere Friends…
Know my feelings.
Reveal to me how they feel.
Teach me about myself.
Are comfortable with silence.
Feel free to tell me the truth.
Give me the freedom to fail.
Love me for who I am.
Superficial Friends…
Know only the facts about me.
Tell me what they’ve done.
Tell me about others.
Feel awkward with silence.
Would leave me if I let them down.
Love me for what I can do.
