Our Easter weekend began by me taking Payton to our church on Saturday morning for their first ever Easter family service. It was a lot of fun and very interactive for all of the young children in attendance. After church we headed down to Point Loma for the 3rd annual Spring Fling event. We met Auntie Jinger and we cruised the festivities but soon grew bored of the lack of things for Payton to do. Since Uncle Geoff headed up to help Jim with our hardwood flooring install we took a trip up the 5 freeway to purchase some gorgeous ranunculus from the Carlsbad flower fields. With a quick trip to Costco and to In & Out we were soon back to our catastrophe of a house where we dined on cheeseburgers in our backyard. Classy. The late afternoon was spent playing with Payton and listening to the guys try and perfect each and every cut. We called it a night around 8 PM and headed back to our temporary residence where we dyed eggs and shortly after Payton was conked out and mama was all alone baking pies and prepping monkey bread.
Easter Weekend Recap
On Easter we spent about fifteen minutes together as a family which consisted of us getting Payton dressed, packed and drove three miles down Pomerado back to our house where I dropped off Jim for the day. He and my old boss and friend, Robert, laid almost all of the flooring in our living room. We’re getting there! Payton and I spent the morning at my sister’s house where we had an amazing brunch, smashed confetti eggs and Payton got to participate in her first egg hunt. She loved looking for the eggs, even if my sister did make it easy for her. She especially loved shaking them until candy exploded from the plastic hinges. I don’t even want to think about how many M&M’s, jelly beans and peeps my girl consumed. Lucky thing for me she headed off to Grandma and Papa’s for a few days so they got to deal with the hyper toddler (love ya mama!) I left my baby girl once again to head to work. ugh. It is getting more and more difficult doing this, but with Jim in Kentucky for a few days I have no other option.
Easter may not have been what we had envisioned but I got to spend most of the day with my family and kept my hubby in my thoughts as he busted his booty to get further along in our house. Our goal was to be back by Easter but now we have given ourselves a more realistic one of Mother’s Day. It just a disaster zone, like when we first moved in but nothing is in boxes just shuffled between rooms. aghh. I just dream of sleeping in my bed again one day. As of today we are on three weeks and four days without a routine. We are super thankful to have the Schack’s in our lives and their open door. I don’t know how we would have managed in a hotel. Whew! What a recap.
Here’s a few (too many) pictures of the weekend:
she loves doggies. she made a new friend with this one at the event.
Not wanting to take a picture with me, gotta get used to that!
She found some cones, which ended up being the only thing for her to do at the event. She reorganized them and lined them up.
Jim and Geoff making precise cuts.
Playing in our backyard, which is the only place safe for her right now.
Looking from Payton’s room into ours.
Dyeing eggs. She followed my steps, besides dropping one egg it went okay.
The strawberry cream cheese pie I made. YUM!
P’s basket filled with: 2 movies, a book, some fruit snacks, cinnamon maple puffs, bubbles, chocolate and a few other goodies!
Noming on the first egg she found.
All three of her cousins bonked her with confetti eggs.
And finally, going through her basket and taste / licking everything for her seal of approval.
Hope y’all had a great Easter weekend!!
