Yesterday was our first shower. We had a co-ed shower thrown by the Schack’s, we watched the Charger game, ate yummy food and of course opened gifts. It was very relaxing and nice to see everyone, especially since we couldn’t really talk to anyone last weekend during Jim’s drunken daze. I started off the day by eating it hard in the driveway, I now understand the statement “barefoot and pregnant”. I have only worn heels once since being pregnant, but I didn’t have any flats that matched my dress so I rocked my gold Steve Madden heels with the full intention of taking them off immediately. Well, I decided to park my car on the street and then started to walk into the driveway, not even paying attention to the street. Well, my heel got stuck in a hole and my fat prego body met the concrete very hard. I had thought my heel broke right in half but it came flying off and I went a crashing! It was really funny, I literally could not stop laughing, but my laughter turned into tears. The outcome of this fall is a badly scraped foot all along where my shoe was, a two inch gash out of my knee, a bruise the size of a softball on my hip, two broken nails and a sprained wrist. Great start to a shower, but it gets better! I was going outside to check on the kiddos and as I was turning the door knob it broke off (just my luck) and if it couldn’t get any better, later that night as we were leaving Jim elbowed me in the forehead. Despite all the injuries the shower was amazing! Al and Kathy are super generous, besides throwing us an amazing shower they gave us a camcorder to document the baby, of course it was for selfish reasons because if I go into labor during Christmas they won’t be here so we need to document everything, but as Al said it’s to document our second dog’s life..ha ha.
We received all our major gifts so now we just need to get the bedding and furniture and get the nursery ball a’rollin‘. My parents are coming down this weekend to help Jim move out our guest bedroom furniture and then the painting will begin. It is all finally starting to sink in that in less than twelve weeks we will be welcoming our little girl into our lives. I am starting to feel super overwhelmed by my lack of preparation, but I have set a few goals to ensure we are fully prepared for her arrival. I head to the doctor this Thursday for my 28-week appointment.
